AdminHistory Carol Pope was born on 9th April 1952. A former journalist, she was the University of Dundee's Press Officer, before moving to work in the Principal's Office as Director of Communications. She also served as the publishing manager of Dundee University Press. During her time at the University she was instrumental in founding what became the Dundee International Book Prize.

While undergoing chemotherapy treatment as a cancer patient in 2015 she wrote a series of poems published as The Pile Light. Poems by Carol Pope, which were praised by Dame Hilary Mantel.

Carol Pope died on 1st December 2015.
