for Supplying The City of Perth with Water

Adam Anderson was a Professor and Engineer. He was Rector of Perth Academy 1809-1837 and then a Professor of Natural History at St Andrews University, from 1837 until his death in 1846. Using his influence as an educator he advocated the inclusion of Chemistry and Science in the curriculum. As an engineer he designed the pumping and chlorinating plant for the water supply to Perth as well as supervising its construction. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and a Doctor of Law.
